Originally published with my wife in early 2000, alternativediabetes.com provided a credible web resource for complementary and alternative medicine in diabetes care. The site offered over 1000 pages of content, a searchable herb/vitamin/mineral/nutrient database, links to practitioners, numerous drug free therapies and much more. alternativediabetes.com earned links from the ADA, NIDDK, Mendosa, Diabetes Health magazine and many more. It was a gigantic investment with a goal to provide an educational portal to diabetes professionals and people with the disease.

Why do it?
I sought credibility. The largest publishers in the diabetes world, The American Diabetes Association (its rag Diabetes Forecast) and Mr. Rappoport's Diabetes Self Management both refused to accept ads promoting my diabetes supplement brand, Beta Fast GXR Glucose Balance, due to lack of published research. It went something like this:

Dear Mr. Goldberg:

We are pleased to inform you that the (omnipotent) American Diabetes Association has approved your website alternativediabetes.com for advertising in (the omnipublished) Diabetes Forecast. Unfortunately, neither your own company's clinical trials nor the the 123 studies appearing on Medline (published by the Federal Government's National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health) demonstrating the safety and efficacy of Beta Fast's active ingredient provide us with ample evidence to enable us to accept your advertising dollars. In other words, while your product may be green, your dollars are not green enough for us...

Diabetes Forecast

You get the picture. It was big pharma flexing muscles through its favorite diabetes conduit, the ADA. No supplements allowed. Someday maybe, but the only with ads specifically designed and approved to say nothing meaningful about diabetes. My only path to advertise in the most widely circulated publications on diabetes required promoting alternativediabetes.com, not Beta Fast GXR. To my benefit, this worked well to establish a following. Unfortunately, it failed in selling ample advertising on the site, other than to its main sponsor: Beta Fast GXR (me). alternativediabetes.com as a website did provide the opportunity to advertise in the American Diabetes Association's flagship magazine, Diabetes Forecast.

So...
In early 2000, bright eyed and checkbook overflowing, in I stepped up to purchase tens of thousands of dollars in Diabetes Forecast...for alternativediabetes.com, hoping to drive users to consider using Beta Fast GXR for natural glucose balance. Nearly broke after this unwise exercise, I present this blog.

With it, I hope to complete the story and republish much of the important information we originally provided on alternativediabetes.com. In the meantime, please consider supporting my efforts by trying one of my outstanding formulas of Beta Fast GXR: Glucose Balance and Glucose Tolerance.
